DT FileCabinet, scheduled for release in the 4th quarter of 2012, is an offering that will help tax practitioners develop paperless workflow processes and improve overall tax preparation efficiency.

DT FileCabinet is a paperless document management system designed specifically for the tax and accounting profession. It automatically stores documents of all types within digital client drawers allowing for easy retrieval, viewing and secure emailing of any document, in seconds. All software tools in use at accounting firms can print directly to DT FileCabinet using the DT FileCabinet print driver, automatically installed with the product. The document scanning tool built into DT FileCabinet allows tax preparers to easily scan in all client paper documents including tax slips, receipts, and other information. With this information stored, managed, and centralized as part of the client’s digital client drawer, retrieving and viewing of the scanned documents makes for faster processing and a more streamlined workflow.

Users of the popular DT Max Suite of personal, corporate and trust tax compliance products will benefit from direct, seamless integration between DT Max and DT FileCabinet. Completed T1, T2, and T3 returns from DT Max, as well as output from DT FormMax, will automatically flow to the appropriate client drawer in DT FileCabinet. While designed for use with DT Max, DT FileCabinet can be used efficiently with other tax, accounting and office software products.

“With DT FileCabinet, our customers will save time and money by storing documents and files digitally, and the advanced annotation features including capabilities to add text, highlighting, stamps, or audio clips to documents will be helpful both inside the firm and with clients.” says Malcolm Campbell, Dr Tax Vice President, Tax and Accounting Business of Thomson Reuters. “The DT FileCabinet product has a proven track-record of boosting a firm’s productivity with convenient access to centralized client files and eliminating the need to search through loosely organized paper documents.”

DT FileCabinet works seamlessly with the new DT Client Portal product also being released by Dr Tax in Q4.
